so it's looking like summer is pretty much over right? Although that didn't stop me from drinking Pimm's in the Southwark Cathedral courtyard on Saturday, all be it in tights and jacket. (not just tights and jacket)

My first few weeks as part time teacher, part time all the other stuff have been hectic busy land, but today I have a little breathing space. 

Me and June were up all hours writing a proposal for the StoryHands Collective, (you know, I blogged about it here) which may have caused me to be a slightly less than awesome teacher after 4 hours sleep, and is not something I want to do every week. But you know, it felt really good to be exhausted from doing work on something that I really care about. Not that I don't care about the kids. *backpeddles*

But you know what I mean. busy = good. And June is very good at the graphic design stuff.

In facebook project news I have completed the Gs. Gee, what a G-Star I am.

The writing you can read here if you feel so inclined, it is mostly me being intoxicated by colour and amused by pretentious fashion silliness.

introducing StoryHands, a super awesome new illustration collective.

what is an illustration collective you ask? well I'm not sure but I'm in one now 

basically is about doing stuff together, like, collectively isn't it? so expect lots of exciting collaboration in my future. 

  

here is a copy paste of the introduction from the website (here) which I wrote anyway you know so it's not like I'm stealing. apart from the bit about the crusade, June wrote that bit.

StoryHands was originally the brainchild of June Sees and Jenny Robins, conceived on a night heady with cathartic Bonnie Tyler renditions and infinite amounts of frozen yoghurt. Their wishlist of collaborators said Yes! to the invitation to join a crusade of illustration in pursuit of perfection in fresh colourful narrative work.

John Riordan was the first to accept, having met both Jenny and June on the same fateful night in 2008 when they all went to the pub after an AOI Business Masterclass. Martyn had graduated in Illustration with Jenny from Solent University the year before, where they both did absolutely ridiculous work. Jenny and June knew Natsuki through their mutual contribution to Amelia’s Compendium of Fashion Illustration, the 2011 launch of which was where Jenny first tried live portraiture and became hooked, June and Nat also being amazing live artists.

With the five emerging and talented illustrators all together, we can begin our crusade!

This was the recent London event raising money for Japanese earthquake related aid that has come out of the site - organised by super amazing people like Natzuki Otani and Erica Sharp (fellow ACOFI artists as well as June) there was giant origami, loads of crafts, tea ceremonies, cake etc. see a proper write up here. We did live portraits - fast becoming a speciality of mine - and it was an acecakes super fun day.

poster I made for the One Hour Plays stint at Edinburgh Festival. Graphics is not my favourite thing to do, but I enjoyed this because there is bunting on it. And you can never have too much bunting.

Also in other news, I am going to be getting married to my Alex some time in the next few years. I may or may not blog about the planning process. I don't think I can be the kind of blogger that goes on about cupcakes and roses all the time. I mean I like cupcakes. I Love roses. But meh, you know, I prefer kittens and pretty dresses. we'll see.
